pH Level Test:

Procedure
Fill the tube to the 5ml line with water from the stream.
Hold the dropper bottle of indicator solution vertically and add 10 drops of the solution.
Mix the sample water and the solution.
Insert the tube into the Octet Comparator and match the sample water's color to a color standard.
Record the results.

Alkalinity Test:

Procedure
Fill a test tube to the 5 mL line with water from the stream
Add 1 BCGER tablet to the water
Shake till the tablet dissolves. The water should turn a greenish blue.
Drop Titration Reagent B swirling the water after every drop. The water should become light pink.

Nitrates Test:

Procedure
Fill a test tube to the 5mL line with water from the stream.
Add one Nitrate 1 Tablet.
Cap and mix until tablet disintegrates.
Add one Nitrate 2 CTA Tablet.
Cap and mix until tablet disintegrates.
Wait for 5 minutes.
Insert Nitrate Nitrogen Octa-Slide Bar into the Octa-Slide Viewer.
Insert test tube into Octa-Slide Viewer.
Match sample color to a color standard. Record as ppm Nitrate Nitrogen.

Iron Test:

Procedure
Rinse test tube with sample water and fill to 5mL line.
Add 5 drops of Iron Reagent 1 and mix.
Use the .05g spoon to add one level measure of Iron Reagent 2 and shake until dissolved. Wait for 3 minutes.
Insert tube into Iron Comparator. Match sample color to a color standard and record results.

Turbidity Test:

Procedure
Get two containers of 25ml of water (one with distilled and one with the crick water).
There is a dot at the bottom of each container and it is clearly visible with the distilled water; and not as visible with the crick water (it was cloudy).
Add 5ml of Reagent until the distilled water was as cloudy as the crick water.
After each drop of Reagent is added, stir.
Figure out how many drops were used and use the chart to find out the turbidity in the water. (cloudiness)
Put chemicals into chemical waste container.

Dissolved Oxygen Test:

Procedure
Gather water in a the container from the crick.
When you have the sample water, add 8 drops of Manganous Sulfate solution and 8 drops of of Alkaline Potassium Iodide Acid.
After these are added, put the cap on the sample container and mix it.
Next, let it set and the precipitate will fall to the bottom.
Now add 1 gram of Sulfuric Acid.
Mix it until the Reagent and Precipitate has dissolved.
Next using the titration tube fill it with Sodium Thiosulfate.
Now mix this chemical into the sample water.
Notice what color it changes to.
Then add 8 drops of Starch.
What color does it change to?
Record and look at chart for the level of Dissolved Oxygen.
Put chemicals into chemical waste container.

Hardness Test:

Procedure
Fill a granulated cylinder with 12.9 ml of water from Jackson Run.
Add five drops of hardness Reagent #5 to the sample water.
Notice the color change.
Next add 1 tablet of hardness Reagent #6.
Notice the color change.
Now add 1 tablet of hardness Reagent #7 to the sample.
Notice Color Change
Use Titration tube to determine measurements.
Use other details/chart to determine also.
